The Assembly began developing its art collection when it moved to the South Building on London Circuit in 1994. The collection showcases the quality and diversity of the region’s artistic practices and celebrates the distinctive character of the ACT, home to about 490,000 people and the nation’s capital.

The collection continues to grow and is overseen by the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, with acquisitions being made each year on the advice of the Legislative Assembly Art Advisory Committee.

As works are acquired they are displayed temporarily in the ground-floor corridor of the Assembly building facing London Circuit.
