About the Work
Sculptor Eggert describes this work as an attempt to communicate the idea that ‘all things flow’, that we live in a constant state of flux. The embroidery hoops reference textile traditions where a section of material is temporarily secured and held tight. Allegro captures the impressions left by invisible forces such as sound, light, time, gravity and radiation on various materials, be it the steel mesh she often uses, the embroiderer’s fabric or a perforated piano roll.
