Speakers
The Speaker of the Legislative Assembly is an MLA who is elected as the head of the parliament. They control what happens in the chamber, make sure that standing orders (the Assembly's rules) are followed, and discipline members, if required. They also represent the Assembly as a whole in ceremonial situations.
The Assembly has had seven speakers since self-government in 1985.

Chief Ministers
The Chief Minister of the Australian Capital Territory is the MLA who is elected as the head of the government. They appoint ministers to their cabinet, manage the budget, and direct the public service to administer the laws of the territory and provide services to ACT residents.
The Assembly has had seven chief ministers since self-government in 1985.

Opposition Leaders
