About the Work

Peter Minson has been highly influential in the field of art glass, championing the technique of lampworking in particular. A teacher and mentor to many artists his work spans 7 decades, and embodies the origins of the technique in scientific glass blowing via his family’s business where he first learnt his skills. This work represents a synthesis of his practice, demonstrating the exuberance of the ornamental lampworking technique (in the decanter and stopper) with the rigour of his early training making glass test tubes (the set of phial-like glasses that surround the base).
