About the Artist

On arriving in Australia Iraqi-born Basema Mahdi studied at CIT and the ANU in the late 1990s, and later worked as a printer at Megalo Print Studio. She writes that ‘much of my work employs a fine woodcutting technique. which allows the images to emulate a sense of cutting into and through a slice of the landscape.’
