About the Work
Streaming #23 is a work from a series that studies the interplay between light, colour and water. The blown form is the base for Belfrage’s signature cane drawing technique. Threads of glass, called stringers, are pulled while hot and then laid on the surface in bundles of 4–5 lines. The drawing builds up slowly, a process that gives the work its rhythm. The artist says she imagines ‘the rhythm and energy, a drama within a soft kind of stillness.’
