About the Work
Ian Jones has a strong national and international reputation for his exhibition quality, natural ash glazed, wood-fired ceramic objects, made in the anagama wood-fired kilns he makes and uses at his Gundaroo Studio. Basket is representative of his signature style. He says: ‘I have worked with long anagama style tube kilns since finishing the construction of a 12 metre long kiln in the mid 80’s. I love the different qualities achievable in the different zones of the kiln. I have recently been having lots of fun exploring a clay based on a local decomposed granite.
