About the Work

In an artist’s statement Hellsing has written that Recollections I was ‘inspired by my memories of living in Sweden as a child.’ The work incorporates fragments and details of family photographs, preserving individual stories in the glass surface. The fluidity of the medium mirrors the way in which our memories are, the artist proposes, in a ‘constant state of flux’. Hellsing was a 2012 recipient of the ANU School of Art Emerging Artist Support Scheme, ACT Legislative Assembly Prize.
