About the Work
Since the establishment of the Canberra Glassworks in 2007, glass artists from around the world have been attracted to come to Canberra to use its facilities. Lepisto’s Drawn across is frankly autobiographical. The figure is a self-portrait, as pen in hand he travels from his previous home in Portland, Oregon USA to his new home here. Water towers, airports, houses and city landmarks successively fill his page as the figure strolls across from one continent to another. As long as reasonable care is taken, and the glass figure is not lifted from its resting point, the little figure can be made to slide across the landscape.
