About the Work
This work describes the artist’s interest in memory and his experience of living between two cultures: remembering Japan while in Australia through form and space. The dynamic tension between the two elements as they meet in Rest comes from his memory of a soft futon being aired, contrasted against the hardness of a steel rod.
