About the Work

Julie Bradley’s work is distinctive in its approach to abstraction and her use of materials, such as Japanese papers, gouache washes and line, to create illusions of space. Bradley created this pair of works as a response to studying the Bundian Way at the ANU during lockdown in 2021. The Bundian Way is a pathway used by Indigenous peoples to travel to and from the high country in the Snowy Mountains to the sea at Eden, an ancient Aboriginal track that links the Canberra region with the South Coast.
