About the Work
Lee says:
'My work is influenced aesthetically by my local environment, the Blue Mountains and Nepean River in NSW. Specifically I am interested in colour and patterns in nature and subject matter of the native flora and fauna that is around me. Conceptually I am interested in history and memory and the remnants, scars and unseen traces left in spaces.'
About the Artist
Lee’s practice explores the native flora and fauna around her home in the lower Blue Mountains/Penrith region of NSW. A Wiradjuri woman, she has regularly exhibited at Burrunju Gallery in Canberra. Her paintings are overlaid with aboriginal symbolism and patterns but are given a distinctly contemporary feel as traditional mark-making merges with decorative patterning.
