About the Work
Measure (3) was created on site over the course of two weeks by the artist. The work was drawn onto the wall with the aid of a vintage measurement tool—a fold-out wooden ruler. Using this tool retains a connection with human dimensions, the stretch of the artist’s arm, for example. Within the work three structural elements have been used: a curve, a triangle and a rhomboid. The dynamic rhythm of the painting has been created with a restricted palette of gradient blues through to white, which strengthens the spatial relationship between the angled and curved forms to create an optical play with visual depth.
