About the Work
The Pedirka Desert in the far north of South Australia has a special significance for the artist. This is the country that Martiniello’s grandmother walked when she was a girl with her grandmothers for women’s business. In this, Australia’s smallest desert, the deep red sands are offset by the soft green of the mulga that grows on low sand dunes.
