Spend a week working in an MLA's office in the heart of Canberra's local democracy with our work experience program!
To be eligible for work experience at the Legislative Assembly, you need to be aged 14-18 (inclusive), enrolled at a recognised ACT or New South Wales school, and live in the area bounded by:
- Yass to the northwest
- Tarago to the northeast
- Araluen (including Braidwood) to the east
- Michelago to the southeast, and
- the northern boundary of Namadgi National Park.
How to apply
To apply for work experience, send an email to LAeducation@parliament.act.gov.au that includes:
- Your name
- Where you live (suburb if in the ACT, or town if in the Canberra region)
- Your year level and what school you go to, and
- The date ranges of at least two weeks you would like to do work experience for.
Requests for work experience must be sent at least 6 weeks before your earliest date range.
We cannot guarantee you'll be offered a placement, as work experience depends on whether MLAs are available and have the capacity to host students during their nominated dates.
