Primary visit programs
We offer both free in-person excursions to the Assembly and digital incursions into your classroom for primary-level students. Both programs are aligned with the Australian Curriculum's year 3 to 6 Humanities and Social Sciences civics strand and year 7 and 8 Civics and Citizenship curricula.
If you would like to organise a bespoke excursion or incursion, please contact us so we can work out an option to best suit you and your students.
Assembly excursion
Due to building upgrades in the Assembly from February to August 2026, we can only cater for groups of up to 50 students. If you would like to book for more than 50 students, you will need to book separate time slots. Alternatively, we can come to your school or deliver a digital program.
Core program
Our core program caters to groups of up to 50 students and runs for one hour. It includes:
An interactive exploration of the role and functions of the Legislative Assembly, and
An immersive roleplay where students take on the roles of ministers, members, and clerks to replicate how laws are made in the ACT.
- We have a range of primary curriculum-aligned roleplay topics that will get your students engaged and involved, including compulsory weekend sports, a school uniform ban, and mandatory waterslides at public pools.
Optional add-ons
We have two add-ons which are great value adds to your excursion. Where add-ons take your visit to two (2) hours long, we include a short break between sessions for students.
A Q&A session with Members of the Legislative Assembly where students can ask them about their work, what inspires them, and current issues (30 minutes)
A session on active citizenship with activities, as well as a short guided tour of the Assembly chamber (30 to 45 minutes)
Classroom incursion
Can’t make it to the Legislative Assembly? Let us bring our role-play program to you.
Our core program for incursions is the same as our Assembly excursion and can be offered to groups of up to 60 students. You an also select our active citizenship add-on for up to 30 minutes after the role-play session.
We can run up to three one-hour sessions at your school within one visit.
Digital incursion
Our digital incursions use a set program designed to balance the passive and active learning of digital teaching and maximise in-class engagement.
Our Years 3 and 4 program explores:
- The similarities and differences between rules and laws
- The ACT Legislative Assembly, who works here, and what they do, and
- How you can get involved in decision-making in the ACT.
