Resolution of establishment for committees
A committee’s terms of reference come from its resolution of establishment, which is passed by the Assembly. This resolution sets out a committee’s responsibilities, any additional powers a committee may have and any specific directions the Assembly may decide to give a committee. The Assembly can amend the resolution of establishment to alter or expand the responsibilities, membership and work of a committee.
The Assembly resolved to establish the following general-purpose standing committees on 2 December 2020 (amended 11 February 2021, 30 March 2021, 22 April 2021, 16 September 2021, 9 November 2021, 10 February 2022, 5 April 2022, 4 August 2022, and 28 November 2023):
- Planning, Transport and City Services
- Environment, Climate and Biodiversity
- Economy and Gender and Economic Equality
- Education and Community Inclusion
- Justice and Community Safety
- Public Accounts
- Health and Community Wellbeing
