08. Inquiry into Auditor-General's Report No. 7 of 2016: Certain Land Development Agency Acquisitions

Invitation for public submissions

On 13 December 2016, the Legislative Assembly appointed the Standing Committee on Public Accounts (PAC).

The PAC is to consider the following matters:

i) examine:

(A) the accounts of the receipts and expenditure of the Australian Capital Territory and its authorities; and

(B) all reports of the Auditor-General which have been presented to the Assembly;

ii) report to the Assembly any items or matters in those accounts, statements and reports, or any circumstances connected with them, to which the Committee is of the opinion that the attention of the Assembly should be directed;

iii) inquire into any question in connection with the public accounts which is referred to it by the Assembly and to report to the Assembly on that question.

On 28 March 2017, the Committee resolved to inquire into the matters in the Auditor-General’s Report 7 of 2016, and seeks views from all interested persons, organisations and groups and others on the matters raised by its inquiry.

Auditor-General’s Report No. 7 of 2016: Certain Land development Agency Acquisitions (the Audit report) was presented to the Legislative Assembly on 31 October 2016.

In accordance with the resolution of appointment of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts (the Committee), the Audit report was referred to the Committee for examination. The Audit report presented the results of a performance audit that examined certain land and business acquisitions in 2015 and 2016 by the Land Development Agency.

The Committee’s terms of reference are to examine the Audit report and report to the Legislative Assembly.
