Report tabled – Human Rights (Healthy Environment) Amendment Bill 2023
Today the Chair of the Standing Committee on Justice and Community Safety, Mr Peter Cain MLA, tabled the Committee’s report for its Inquiry into the Human Rights (Healthy Environment) Amendment Bill 2023.
In light of submissions to the inquiry, it is the view of the Committee that the Bill will, overall, assist in the realisation of the right to a healthy environment for Canberrans.
The recommendation of the Committee is that the Human Rights (Healthy Environment) Amendment Bill 2023 be passed. However, the Committee has also suggested a number of amendments to the Bill.
A dissenting report has also been written by Peter Cain MLA.

The Committee would like to thank those who made submissions.
Under the Assembly’s standing orders, the ACT Government is required to respond to Committee reports within four months of tabling.
