Report tabled – Parentage (Surrogacy) Amendment Bill 2023

Today the Chair of Standing Committee on Justice and Community Safety, Mr Peter Cain MLA, tabled the Committee’s report for its Inquiry into the Parentage (Surrogacy) Amendment Bill 2023.

In light of submissions to the inquiry, it is the view of the Committee that the Bill will remove barriers to altruistic surrogacy in the ACT and better align the ACT with other Australian jurisdictions.

The Committee received ten submissions to this inquiry and makes nine recommendations.

The Committee would like to thank those who made a submission to this inquiry.

Under the Assembly’s standing orders, the ACT Government is required to respond to Committee reports within four months of tabling.
