Report tabled – Sexual, Family and Personal Violence Legislation Amendment Bill 2023

Today the Chair of the Standing Committee on Justice and Community Safety, Mr Peter Cain MLA, tabled the Committee’s report for its Inquiry into the Sexual, Family and Personal Violence Legislation Amendment Bill 2023.

In light of submissions to the inquiry, it is the view of the Committee that the Bill will, overall, improve the way that ACT laws respond to sexual, family and personal violence.

The committee has made a number of recommendations based on evidence it received through submissions to the inquiry.

The Committee would like to thank those who made submissions.

Under the Assembly’s standing orders, the ACT Government is required to respond to Committee reports within four months of tabling.
