Standing Committee on Justice and Community Safety

The Standing Committee on Justice and Community Safety examines matters relating to law, justice, human rights, gambling, consumer affairs and emergency services.  It is also responsible for electoral matters and integrity in public administration.

The Standing Committee on Justice and Community Safety has undertaken inquiries into Community Corrections, Family Violence, Dangerous Driving, and Sexual Assault.

The Standing Committee on Justice and Community Safety would be interested in hearing from the Community sector, statutory authorities, the legal sector, peak bodies, justice groups, child protection / youth justice sector, multicultural groups, disability sector, human rights groups, corrections and LGBTIQ+ groups in potential inquiries to matters of concern to the Canberra community.

The Standing Committee on Justice and Community Safety ask that suggestions for inquiries to be relevant to the committee’s resolution of establishment - Standing Committee on Justice and Community Safety - ACT Legislative Assembly and outline the reasons why the issues are important for the committee to inquire.
