Report tabled – Inquiry into Annual and Financial Reports 2021-22

The Chair of the Standing Committee on Environment, Climate Change and Biodiversity, Dr Marisa Paterson MLA, today tabled the Committee’s report on its Inquiry into Annual and Financial Reports 2021-22.

The Committee held a number of public hearings with the Environment, Planning and Sustainable Development Directorate, the Chief Minister, Treasury and Economic Development Directorate, and the Office of the Commissioner for Sustainability and the Environment. Topics discussed included those such as the Ngunnawal Ranger funding initiative, fire management, electric vehicles, urban sprawl, the new ACT Office for Water, and the Sustainable Household scheme.

The Committee’s report made 9 recommendations to the ACT Government, such as developing a conservation plan for Callum Offices, improving protection measures for native species, and implementing a standard contract provision requiring end-of-life reuse and recycling for solar panels and large battery systems.

Under the Assembly’s standing orders, the Government is required to respond to committee reports within four months of tabling.
