Public hearings into cost of living pressures
The Cost of Living Committee today released the program for its public hearings. They will be held on Wednesday, 12 April and Thursday, 13 April in the Prince Edward Island Room in the Assembly Building.
The witnesses include:
- The Treasurer, Mr Andrew Barr MLA
- Other ACT Government ministers, including for the housing sector (Ms Yvette Berry MLA and Ms Rebecca Vassarotti MLA)
- Service providers including the YWCA, St Vincent de Paul, the Salvation Army, Foodbank and local pantries
- Peak bodies including the ACT Council of Social Service and Suicide Prevention Australia.

The Broadcasting ACT Legislative Assembly website will show a live stream of the hearings and host a recording afterwards.

The Chair of the Committee, Mr Johnathan Davis MLA, said “The Committee has received a strong set of submissions. We look forward to meeting ministers and stakeholders to discuss the issues raised.”
The Committee must report by Thursday, 11 May 2023. This will ensure that the recommendations made by the Committee can inform the development of the 2023-2024 ACT Government Budget.
