MEDIA RELEASE
Inquiry into Immediate Trauma Support Services in the ACT
The Standing Committee on Justice and Community Safety has announced it will be undertaking an inquiry into Immediate Trauma Support Services in the ACT.
The terms of reference are available on the Committee website here.
The Committee are looking to inquire into what immediate supports are currently available, when do existing services start providing support, challenges faced at the scene of an accident or traumatic event and what is a best practice ‘trauma informed’ immediate trauma support service.
The Committee would like to hear from a range of stakeholders and welcomes submissions to this inquiry by 8 December 2023. Information on how to make a submission is available on the Assembly website.
The Committee understands that some people may have already made a submission on this topic for the Committee’s Inquiry into Dangerous Driving and may find it traumatic writing a further submission. In this case, the Committee is willing to refer to the earlier submission. The Committee will also welcome new submissions if that is preferred.
Support for anyone affected by the issues raised in this inquiry is available from the following support services:
