Inquiry into the Parentage (Surrogacy) Amendment Bill 2023.

The Standing Committee on Justice and Community Safety has announced it will be undertaking an inquiry into the Parentage (Surrogacy) Amendment Bill 2023.

The Parentage (Surrogacy) Amendment Bill 2023 proposes to make several changes to surrogacy arrangements in the ACT. These include updating eligibility criteria for altruistic surrogacy and developing a framework for surrogacy agreements and parentage order applications. The bill, alongside it’s explanatory statement and human rights compatibility statement, is available to read on the ACT Legislation Register.

The Committee would like to hear from a range of stakeholders and welcomes submissions to this inquiry by Wednesday 29 November 2023.
