New Inquiry into Period Products Bill

The Standing Committee on Health and Community Wellbeing has announced its Inquiry into the Period Products and Facilities (Access) Bill 2022.

The Period Products and Facilities (Access) Bill 2022 was presented by Ms Suzanne Orr MLA on 4 August 2022. The Bill proposes to improve access to period products, period management facilities, and menstruation information with a view to alleviating period poverty in the Territory.

The Committee will conduct a short inquiry and present recommendations to the Assembly before the Bill is debated.

“The Committee looks forward to inquiring into Ms Orr’s bill and subsequently making recommendations to Government aimed at eliminating period poverty in the ACT,” said Mr Davis, Chair of the Standing Committee on Health and Community Wellbeing.

Information about how to make a submission is available here.

Submissions close on Friday, 2 September 2022. The Committee intends to hold a public hearing in September and must report back to the Assembly by 6 October 2022.
