Report tabled for the Inquiry into the Auditor-General’s Report No. 4 of 2020: Residential Land Supply and Release
On Tuesday the Standing Committee on Public Accounts tabled its report for its Inquiry into the Auditor-General’s Report No. 4 of 2020: Residential Land Supply and Release.
The Committee made eighteen recommendations including that, the ACT Government:
- conduct and independent review of the Indicative Land Release Program (ILRP);
- undertake tax reform to support housing affordability in the ACT;
- continue to advocate for tax reform from the Commonwealth Government that will support housing affordability; and
- release more land.
The Chair of the Committee, Mrs Elizabeth Kikkert said, ‘The Committee endorses all the Auditor‑General’s recommendations.’
‘We also thank those who contributed to the Committee’s inquiry, including the Auditor‑General and staff from the ACT Audit Office, the Minister for Planning and Land Management, ACTCOSS, MBA and Home Economics.’

Under the Assembly’s standing orders, the Government is required to respond to committee reports within four months of tabling.
