MEDIA RELEASE

How can we reduce nappy waste in the ACT?

Canberrans are invited to have their say on the waste management of products such as nappies, tampons and sanitary pads, in the ACT.

The Standing Committee on Environment, Climate Change and Biodiversity‘s inquiry has extended its submission period until 5pm on Friday, 28 October 2022.

The Committee is interested in a wide array of topics related to these waste products, including opportunities for waste minimisation, short and long-term solutions to recycling, composting and waste management, education on the benefits of using sustainable and environmentally-friendly products, and policy and regulatory settings.

Committee Chair, Dr Marisa Paterson MLA, said ‘Nappies, adult incontinence products and period product waste have a significant impact on landfill. We are keen to hear from Canberrans on ways to minimise and manage this waste.’
