11. Inquiry into the supply of water to the Tharwa community
On 24 October 2019, the Legislative Assembly of the ACT referred an inquiry on the supply of water to the Tharwa community to the Standing Committee on Environment and Transport and City Services.
The Committee will look into and report on an ACT Government infrastructure development project to provide non-potable water for firefighting needs in Tharwa; the implementation of recommendations from the ‘Tharwa Village Plan’ 2018; historic issues surrounding the supply of potable and non-potable water to the village; and the projected growth of the village and how this is accommodated in water supply planning.

Written submissions should be lodged with the Committee Secretary by close of business on Wednesday, 20 November 2019.

"That:
- the Standing Committee on Environment and Transport and City Services inquire into and report on the supply of water to the Tharwa community, with particular reference to:
- the direction and progress of the ‘Non-Potable Water Supply at Tharwa for Firefighting project’;
- the recommendations of the 2018 Tharwa Village Plan;
- the historic issues surrounding the supply of potable and non-potable water to Tharwa village;
- the projected growth of Tharwa village; and
- any other relevant matter; and
- the inquiry reports to the Assembly on the matter no later than the conclusion of the March 2020 sitting week.”
