04. Inquiry into Government Procurement (Secure Local Jobs) Amendment Bill 2018
Government Procurement (Secure Local Jobs) Amendment Bill 2018
On 2 August the Legislative Assembly referred the Government Procurement (Secure Local Jobs) Amendment Bill 2018 to the Standing Committee on Economic Development and Tourism. The Committee must report back on the bill by 30 September.
The Bill facilitates the adoption of the Secure Local Jobs Code and measures to ensure that those awarded ACT Government contracts comply with the code.
Jeremy Hanson MLA, Chair of the Committee, said that, “the Committee has a tight timeframe for making recommendations to the Assembly on this bill and would welcome input from individuals, businesses, industry groups, employees and employee representatives on how the changes proposed by the bill would affect them. The Committee would find particularly helpful comment on whether the bill should be supported and proposals for the amendment or omission of specific clauses.”
Written submissions should be lodged by 31 August 2018.
If the Committee chooses to hold public hearings they will be in mid-September.
Submissions should include your full name, postal address and telephone number. Electronic lodgement is preferred.
The bill is available at www.legislation.act.gov.au.
For further information or to lodge a submission please contact the Committee Secretary on (02) 6205 0129 or by email at: LACommitteeEDT@parliament.act.gov.au.
