New inquiry into the Emergencies Amendment Bill 2026

The Standing Committee on Legal Affairs has announced it will be undertaking an inquiry into the Emergencies Amendment Bill 2026. The bill seeks to repeal provisions establishing the ACT Multi-Hazard Advisory Council and statutory requirements relating to the Multi-Hazard Advisory Council.

Committee Chair, Chiaka Barry MLA, said ‘The Emergencies Amendment Bill 2026 presents changes to the governance arrangements for the ACT’s strategic management of natural hazards. The Committee is interested to hear from stakeholders on these changes'.

Submissions close on 31 July 2026.

The Committee will report by 21 October 2026.
