New inquiry into the use of controlled activity orders
The Standing Committee on Environment and Planning has announced it will be undertaking an inquiry into the use of controlled activity orders.
‘Three recent petitions to the Legislative Assembly have highlighted issues surrounding the use of controlled activity orders to enforce compliance with lease conditions in Canberra,’ said Jo Clay MLA, Committee Chair. ‘In particular, the Committee is seeking community input on the effectiveness of compliance and enforcement in the planning system, and how it can be improved.’
The Terms of Reference for the inquiry are available on the inquiry webpage.
The Committee is interested in hearing about any relevant sites, and has identified some specific sites of interest, including:
- Big Splash Waterpark
- Hawker Tennis Centre
- Gungahlin Cinema
- Phillip Swimming Pool and Ice-Skating Centre
- Manuka Hotel on the old Capitol Theatre site
- Brindabella Christian College carpark
- Richardson shops
