At a ceremony this evening at the Australian National University's School of Art, Speaker of the Assembly Vicki Dunne MLA announced Christine Ramsay and Brooke Jarvis as winners of this year’s Assembly Awards for Art.

Every year, the Speaker selects two graduating students to receive the awards, which contribute towards the cost of materials associated with their artistic practice. The Assembly Awards for Art are currently valued at $500 each and each artists' winning work will be exhibited in the Assembly's exhibition gallery for 12 months. You can view these works by visiting the Assembly.

“The Legislative Assembly’s Art Advisory Committee has developed a strong relationship with the ANU School of Art and it is a privilege to be able to foster, in this small way, the visual arts in the ACT,” Mrs Dunne said.

Honourable mentions from the Speaker included Louella Raynold, Kirrily Humphries, Cat Freeman, and Sally O’Callaghan.
