Submission period still open for Emergencies Amendment Bill 2026 inquiry

The Standing Committee on Legal Affairs would like to remind stakeholders that the submission period for its inquiry into the Emergencies Amendment Bill 2026 will close 31 July 2026.

The Committee Chair, Chiaka Barry MLA, said ‘The Multi-Hazard Advisory Council and its predecessor, the ACT Bushfire Council, have been an important part of the ACT’s emergency management framework since the 1930s. The Committee would very much like to hear the community’s views on the bill’s proposed changes to this longstanding body'.
