Report on Justice and Community Safety
An Assembly Committee today published a report recommending 19 improvements to the operation of the Courts, corrective services, police, emergency services, and human rights in the Territory.
During this inquiry, the Standing Committee on Justice and Community Safety examined the ACT Government annual reports for 2019-20, and the sections of the ACT Budget 2020-21 that fall within its areas of responsibility.
Committee recommendations relate to ACT Policing, Courts and Tribunals, Emergency Services Agency, Alexander Maconochie Centre, payday loans, road safety, smoke and air quality, victims of crime, oversight by the Human Rights Commission, and funding for Legal Aid and Community Legal Centres.
