Public hearings on the COVID-19 pandemic response

The Select Committee on the COVID-19 pandemic response will hold its first public hearing into the ACT government’s health and financial response and any other matter relating to the COVID-19 pandemic at 1.30 pm on Thursday, 30 September 2021. At this first hearing, the Committee will hear from representatives from the Canberra Business Chamber, the ACT Human Rights Commission and the ACT Council of Social Service.

The Committee will hold regular public hearings, with ACT Government officials and community groups which will be held virtually via Zoom and live streamed to the public. The hearings can be viewed from the Video on Demand website.

Committee Chair, Ms Elizabeth Lee MLA, said “The Committee welcomes the opportunity to hear from the Human Rights Commission and leading peak bodies on the impact of the current COVID-19 outbreak and the ACT government’s decisions to date. This public hearing is an opportunity for all members of the community to be informed and their concerns heard about the management of the pandemic response.”

The Select Committee was established by the Legislative Assembly on 16 September 2021 to provide oversight to the ACT Government’s response to the COVID-19 public health emergency. The resolution establishing the Committee is available on the Committee’s website.
