New inquiry on environmental volunteerism

Canberrans are invited to have their say on environmental volunteerism in the ACT.

The Standing Committee on Environment, Climate Change and Biodiversity has announced a new inquiry and is inviting submissions until 7 February 2022.

The Committee is interested in a wide array of topics related to environmental volunteerism in the ACT, including the type and nature of volunteerism in the environment sector, existing challenges and opportunities, community stewardship, managing relationships and policy and regulatory settings.

Committee Chair, Dr Marisa Paterson MLA, said ‘Noting the important role that volunteers play in our community, we want to hear about ways to encourage the involvement of people from diverse backgrounds and abilities, including children, young people and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.’
