New Inquiry into Maternity Services in the ACT
The Legislative Assembly’s Standing Committee on Health, Ageing and Community Services (the Committee) today announced that it has resolved to hold an inquiry into Maternity Services in the ACT.
The Chair of the Committee, Mr Michael Pettersson MLA said that, “the Committee recognises that pregnancy and childbirth are profoundly significant life experiences. The experiences that accompany pregnancy and childbirth should, in our community, be of the highest-quality”.
Mr Pettersson said that “the Committee is aware that there is a range of maternity care models available in the ACT. The Committee also acknowledges that there is an increasing demand for continuous care across the maternity pathway and wants to ensure that all pathways are working well within ACT Maternity Services. The Committee looks forward to hearing from the community, as well as the health sector about what is working well in ACT Maternity Services and what can be improved”.

Written submissions should be lodged to the Committee by Friday, 07 December 2018. The Committee intends to hold public hearings following this date. If you would like to appear before the Committee, please indicate that in your written submission for the Committee to consider.
