JACS Committee is inquiring into Community Corrections, and welcomes input from offenders and their families, victim survivors, and professionals working in the justice system and community sector.

We look forward to hearing from as many people as possible about what is working well in community corrections, and what can be improved, in the following areas:

  1. Parole system,
  2. Intensive correction orders,
  3. Sentence Administration Board,
  4. Drug and alcohol treatment orders,
  5. Recidivism outcomes,
  6. Experiences of offenders and their families,
  7. Experiences of victim survivors, and
  8. Any other relevant matter.

The Committee would like to make the inquiry accessible to people with lived experience of the community corrections system:

  • people living under community correction orders,
  • their families, and
  • victims of crime.

If you know someone who would like to be involved, but they are more comfortable talking than writing a submission, please contact us to discuss options available.

The Committee’s report was released on 27 July 2022 and is available under the “Reports” tab above.

The Government Response to the report is due on 27 November 2022 and, when published, will be available under the “Government Responses” tab above.
