5. Inquiry into memorialisation through public commemoration

On 15 June 2021 the Standing Committee on Economy and Gender and Economic Equality agreed to consider the particulars of Petition No. 6–21 concerning Monumental Women, lodged in the Assembly on 2 June 2021 as part of a widened inquiry.

Pursuant to Standing Order 216, the Committee resolved on 15 June 2021 to inquire into memorialisation through public commemoration.

The Committee is intending to commence holding public hearings in the third quarter of the 2021–22 financial year.

This inquiry is now complete.

The Committee’s report was released on 2 August 2022 and is available under the “Reports” tab above.

The Government Response to the report is due on 2 December 2022 and, when published, will be available under the “Government Responses” tab above.
