Referred Bills

All bills presented to the Assembly are referred to the relevant standing committee for consideration under Standing Order 174.

The committee must advise the Speaker of its decision to inquire into a bill within three weeks of its presentation to the Assembly, or one week after the relevant scrutiny report is tabled (whichever is later).

Where the committee inquiries into a bill, it must complete its report within three months of the bill’s presentation in the Assembly, except bills presented in the last sitting period of each year where the committee must report within four months of the bill’s presentation.

Petition 034-22—Tuggeranong Skate Park Redevelopment7 February 2023On 4 April 2023, the Committee resolved to inquire into Tuggeranong Skate Park Development in conjunction with the refurbishment of the Gungahlin skate park as part of its overall inquiry into skateboarding and skate parks in the ACT. The inquiry was launched on 2 May 2023. The petition was lodged by Mr Johnathan Davis MLA and received by the Assembly on 7 February 2023.
Petition 15-22 and Petition 21-22—Building Condition for Lyneham Primary School2 August 2022On 6 September 2022, the Committee resolved not to inquire specifically into the building condition report for Lyneham Primary School. However, relevant considerations may be raised as part of the Committee’s inquiry into the future of school infrastructure in the ACT. This inquiry was launched on 6 December 2022. The petition was lodged by Mr Johnathan Davis MLA and received by the Assembly on 2 August 2022.
Petition 33-21—Provision of Auslan Information and Services8 February 2022On 26 April 2022, the Committee resolved to inquire into access to services and information in Auslan, in accordance with concerns raised by petitioners. The inquiry was launched on 31 May 2022. A response to the petition from the Minister for Disability was presented to the Assembly on 3 May 2022.
Petition 51-21—Refurbishment of the Gungahlin Skate Park and Installation of Lights10 February 2022On 29 March 2022, the Committee resolved to postpone any inquiry relating to the Gungahlin skate park until later in 2022, and to consider expanding the scope of such an inquiry into include skating facilities across the ACT. A response to the petition from the Minister for Transport and City Services was presented to the Assembly on 4 May 2022.
