Authority to Receive Resignations of Members

This resolution specifies that the Speaker may receive written notice of a resignation from office by a Member of the Legislative Assembly, in accordance with subsection 13(1) of the Australian Capital Territory (Self-Government) Act 1988.

  1. (1) Pursuant to section 13 of the Australian Capital Territory (Self-Government) Act 1988, this Assembly authorises the Speaker, or during the absence of the Speaker from the Territory or from duty the Deputy Speaker, to receive the written notice of resignation of a Member as a Member of the Assembly.

  2. (2) This resolution has effect from the commencement of the Second Assembly and continues in force unless and until amended or repealed by this or a subsequent Assembly.
