Invitation for public submissions
On 13 December 2016, the Legislative Assembly appointed the Standing Committee on Public Accounts (PAC).
The PAC is to consider the following matters:
ii) report to the Assembly any items or matters in those accounts, statements and reports, or any circumstances connected with them, to which the Committee is of the opinion that the attention of the Assembly should be directed;
iii) inquire into any question in connection with the public accounts which is referred to it by the Assembly and to report to the Assembly on that question.
On 28 March 2017, the Committee resolved to inquire into the matters in the Auditor-General’s Report 1 of 2017, and seeks views from all interested persons, organisations and groups and others on the matters raised by its inquiry.
Submissions are requested by c.o.b. Friday, 30 June 2017 (electronic lodgement is preferred). If you would like to make a submission but will have trouble meeting the Committee deadline, please contact the Committee secretary.

Auditor-General’s Report No. 1 of 2017: Worksafe ACT’s Management of its Regulatory Responsibilities for the Demolition of Loose-Fill Asbestos Contaminated Houses (the Audit report) was presented to the Legislative Assembly on 14 February 2017.
In accordance with the resolution of appointment of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts (the Committee), the Audit report was referred to the Committee for examination.
The Audit report presented the results of a performance audit that examined the effectiveness of Worksafe ACT’s management of its workplace health and safety regulatory responsibilities for the demolition of loose-fill asbestos contaminated houses in the ACT.
The Committee’s terms of reference are to examine the Audit report and report to the Legislative Assembly.
