Select Committee on End of Life Choices in the ACT

· Committee receives a record number of submissions

· Committee announces its May 2018 public hearing program

Bec Cody, MLA, Chair of the Select Committee on End of Life Choices in the ACThas announced the details of submissions received by the Select Committee. Ms Cody said, “The Select Committee received 487 written submissions, from organisations and individuals, on this very important inquiry.  All Committee members are gratified by the comprehensive range of views put forward to it, and submissions are now published on the Committee’s website:

Ms Cody said, “This is the largest number of submissions received by a Committee of the Legislative Assembly, and indicates the importance of the Committee inquiry process initiated by the Assembly in November 2017.”

Ms Cody also confirmed the arrangements for the Committee’s first public hearings which will be held during May 2018.  The Committee will have a day’s hearing on 1 June 2018 as well.

The Committee’s public hearing program is:

  • Thursday 17 May 2018
  • Friday 18 May 2018
  • Thursday 24 May 2018
  • Friday 25 May 2018
  • Thursday 31 May 2018
  • Friday 1 June 2018

A program for the first of the announced Committee hearings on 17 & 18 May 2018 will be finalised and published later this week.

Members of the public and all interested in the inquiry are invited to attend.

The Committee hearings will be held in Committee Room 1, Legislative Assembly building, Civic Square.
