Public sector seminars

These four half day seminars explore the responsibilities of ACT public servants in relation to the processes and practices of the ACT Legislative Assembly. During the seminars participants are able to visit the chamber and participate in a session with MLAs. All seminars are held in the reception room at the ACT Legislative Assembly.

Cost for each seminar is $110.00 (inc. GST) per participant.

This seminar provides an overview of the Assembly including its role, function, how members are elected and what happens on a typical sitting day.

This seminar provides an overview of committees including their purpose, the inquiry process and procedural issues such as privilege.

This seminar provides an overview of the budget formulation, role of the Auditor-General's Office and the estimates committee process.

The legislative process

This seminar will provide an overview of the passage of legislation through the Assembly and the roles of Parliamentary Counsel, Scrutiny of Bills and Subordinate Legislation Committee and the Cabinet in the legislative process.
