ACT Government & Assembly Library
The ACT Government & Assembly Library serves Members
and staff of the ACT Legislative Assembly and staff
of the ACT Public Service.
History
The ACT Government & Assembly Library relocated
to the Legislative Assembly Building at the beginning
of 1994.
The Library’s collection has been built over
many years as a Commonwealth Government Departmental
Library. Its previous titles include Department of the
Interior, Department of the Capital Territory, Department
of Territories and ACT Administration.
Following the introduction of self-government to the
Australian Capital Territory in May 1989, the Library’s
clientele became the Members and staff of the ACT Legislative
Assembly as well as staff of the ACT Public Service.
Role
The ACT Government & Assembly Library provides
research and information services to its clients. It
maintains a comprehensive record of the activities of
the ACT Legislative Assembly and the ACT Government.
The collection is a substantial resource for use in
researching the history, policies and administration
of the government of the Australian Capital Territory.
The Library facilitates government research and the
decision-making processes of its clients.
